About
Hillary Aizenman
Hillary is a seasoned criminal defense attorney with 14 years of experience, who has earned a reputation for being a fierce advocate in and out of the courtroom and for achieving results for her clients.
Hillary has taken 45 cases to a jury trial, achieving acquittals in some of the most serious and complex cases, and has handled thousands of others, from DUIs, to sexual assault, to homicide.
As an example of her successes, in 2022, Hillary obtained not guilty verdicts in two separate sexual assault trials in Boulder, one of which was in a multi-co-defendant trial, and she obtained a reversal for a client who was imprisoned for a decade by demonstrating he was wrongfully convicted of sexual assault on a child based on ineffective assistance of trial counsel.
Hillary receives praise from clients and other professionals for her writing skills outside the courtroom and her advocacy inside the court, where she is highly persuasive to a jury or judge.
Hillary is dedicated to achieving the best possible results for her clients, which she achieves through relentless and strategic litigation, preparation, and putting the government’s case through the crucible of the adversarial process. She takes a pragmatic approach and always provides honest and compassionate advice and counsel to her clients.
Hillary has represented clients in all phases of the criminal justice system, from investigation, through pre-trial litigation and jury trial, through appeal, and post-conviction challenges.
Prior to opening her own practice, Hillary was a trial, appellate, and post-conviction attorney with two notable boutique Boulder criminal defense firms.
Hillary started her career as a defense attorney with the Colorado State Public Defender in the Brighton Regional Office where she was a Public Defender for six years. After graduating from law school at the University of Colorado, at the top of her class, she was a Law Clerk for Chief Justice Michael Bender of the Colorado Supreme Court.
Hillary is a fifth-generation Coloradan. Her ancestors had a brush with the law in the early rough and tumble mining days in Leadville, Colorado, and maintained their innocence, so grit runs in her blood. She’s not afraid to assert your rights aggressively and artfully.
When she’s not working, Hillary enjoys spending time with her family and getting into the Colorado outdoors.
