About
Hillary Aizenman
Hillary is a seasoned criminal defense attorney with nearly 15 years of experience and has earned a reputation for being a fierce advocate, in and out of the courtroom, and for achieving results for her clients.
She has taken 45 cases to jury trial, winning acquittals in some of the most serious and complex cases, notably winning multiple sexual assault trials, one of which involved a multi-codefendant sexual assault allegation.
In addition to her trial victories, Hillary has successfully challenged wrongful convictions through post-conviction litigation, securing a client’s release after a decade-long wrongful imprisonment; another where her client was wrongfully convicted despite being incompetent at the time of trial; and others for failure to advise on immigration consequences.
Hillary has represented clients in all phases of the criminal justice system, from the initial police investigation, pre-trial litigation and jury trial, through appeal, and post-conviction challenges. Overall, Hillary has handled thousands of cases, from DUIs and traffic offenses to serious sexual offenses, assaults, and homicide.
Her record reflects a career dedicated to protecting clients from life-altering convictions, securing freedom for those wrongfully imprisoned, and holding the government to its burden in every case.
Colleagues and clients alike praise Hillary’s ability to combine powerful courtroom advocacy with exceptional legal writing. She is relentless in preparation and strategy. Hillary also takes a pragmatic approach and always provides honest and compassionate advice and counsel to her clients.
Before founding her own practice, Hillary was a trial, appellate, and post-conviction attorney with two respected boutique criminal defense firms in Boulder.
She began her career as a Colorado State Public Defender, serving six years in the Brighton office. She later clerked for Chief Justice Michael Bender of the Colorado Supreme Court after graduating third in her class from the University of Colorado School of Law.
Hillary is a fifth-generation Coloradan. Her ancestors had a brush with the law in the early rough and tumble mining days in Leadville, Colorado, and maintained their innocence, so grit runs in her blood. She’s not afraid to assert your rights aggressively and artfully.
When she’s not working, Hillary enjoys spending time with her family and getting into the Colorado outdoors.
